You’ve tossed. You’ve turned. You’ve flipped the pillow to the cool side for the 47th time.
But no matter what you do, it still feels like you’re sleeping inside a hair dryer.

Yep, summer nights can be brutal. And while we’re always happy to come turn your AC into an arctic oasis, we get that sometimes you want to stay cool without cranking your system all night.

So, here’s our expert-approved (and slightly clever) guide to surviving sweaty summer nights without waking up drenched:

1. Run Ceiling Fans the Right Way

Ceiling fans should spin counterclockwise in summer. This pushes air downward and creates a wind-chill effect.
Bonus tip: fans cool people, not rooms—so turn them off when you leave the room.

2. Switch to Breathable Bedding

Trade your flannel sheets for lightweight cotton or linen. The goal: let your body breathe, not bake.

Still hot? Try the old trick of freezing your pillowcase before bed. Yes, really.

3. Take a Lukewarm Shower (Not Ice-Cold!)

A lukewarm shower helps your core temperature drop gradually—without tricking your body into heating up in response to a cold shock.
It’s counterintuitive, but it works. Science is weird and wonderful.

4. Hack Your AC Thermostat

Here’s the sweet spot: set your thermostat to around 75–78°F at night. That’s enough for comfort without overworking your system or skyrocketing your electric bill.

Also: make sure your thermostat isn’t placed near heat sources or in direct sun. That can mess with its readings and cause it to overcool—or worse, undercool.

5. Keep the Cool In & the Heat Out

  • Close curtains and blinds during the day.
  • Use a box fan in the window at night to bring in cool air.
  • Seal leaks around windows or doors to stop hot air from creeping in.

(Need help with that last one? Call us. We know a thing or two about drafts.)

Bonus Tip: If You’re Still Sweating, Your AC Might Need a Check-Up

If your system isn’t keeping up with the heat, it might not be your imagination. Dirty filters, low refrigerant, or poor airflow could be to blame.

Good news? We can fix that.
Even better? We offer financing options, so you can sleep well without stressing about the bill.
